The annual Ugly Sweater Contest was held on December 21st, the day before Christmas break. All middle school students were allowed to participate in the contest. Those who decided to sign up received a candy cane. Each student was called up one by one and walked across the stage to show off their holiday sweaters. The first winner in 6th grade was, Karlee Johnson. Next, in 7th grade, Nina Munford. Lastly, in 8th grade, the winner was Vanessa Clark. The RMS teachers were also allowed to participate in the Ugly Sweater Contest. The teachers who won were, Mrs. Eckhardt and Mrs. Wareham who shared the same sweater. 7th grade winner, Nina Munford stated,”I was confident about my sweater but still very surprised  when I won.” Her sweater was decked with bows, garland, ornaments, and of course Christmas spirit. The top three winners received a plastic candy cane full of treats. The RMS student council enjoys hosting the annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest every year and can’t wait for more to come.
